Aliens has been and is presently among the greatest sci fi movies to date. Even now after several years have whistled away from its release the film doesn’t cease to astonish. I remember seeing the movie only a few days ago and it captivated me yet again. The tension and the horror experienced by Ripley is palpable. And after so many years, Aliens: Colonial Marines is trying to capture that fear and terror once again.
Gearbox Software has done a great job in keeping the Aliens heritage thriving. Since the atmosphere to the pressure building up to the teaser amongst the Marines is exactly right. Placed after Aliens 3, Aliens: Colonial Marines has been created in partnership with 20th Century Fox. And it shows in the attention to detail that is obvious in the game.
Aliens begins once you board on to the U.S.S Sephora, a sister ship to the Sulaco we encountered in the film. The moment you walk on this forsaken place you will start to experience the ambiance building up.
Cruz who looks like the leading official is the one who manipulates the Colonial Marines. This is the initial character you will meet in Aliens. From the start Aliens takes on a serious and ominous hint. The demo is all that we have to play for now so we are planning to take it as a benchmark of events to come though with a grain of salt. The trailer leads you through the ‘ghost’ ship next to your crew of marines. The trailer features some old reminders to the Aliens movie. For example after a battle in the shelter of Sulaco you’ll observe that it is the area where Ripley battled with the aliens.
Till now the Aliens game is everything that concerns the setting and the Aliens. Both are arrive nicely and Gearbox is doing its job well. If the entire game is as good as this then we are in for a joy ride.
The game is set to be released on 12th February 2013. Watch out for our detailed analysis so far.
